The drive from Venice to Misurina (Auronzo di Cadore) was quite long. Took us around 2 hours and a half from where we picked up our car till we reached our hotel in Misurina. It was a long drive but a worthwhile experience. The surrounding views along the way were truly remarkable.

We reached our hotel around early afternoon. Enough time for us to rest and prepare to shoot for sunset at the lake. It was almost time for sunset but the sun was too shy to show up. Weather was a little gloomy, but that didn’t dampen our spirits.

A quaint, serene, small town with a number of pretty lakes. Winter was just approaching when we visited showing a light snow covering the trees.

We stayed in Misurina for one night before we continued our drive to Braies (Prags) area, South Tyrol, where we also stayed for a night.

Here, we stayed in a farmhouse with beautiful view of the fields, mountain and some horses. At night, stars can be seen clearly. The area was so peaceful and relaxing. Just a few minutes drive from our hotel is Lago di Braies. This lake has become one of my favorites during the entire trip. Lago di Braies is considered as one of the most beautiful lake in the Dolomites.

We tried to follow the trail around the lake but only managed to do half! We’re really not used to long walk and with our heavy gears, we decided to just enjoy the views and take lots and lots of pictures. We also decided that next time, we have to get ourselves ready to try hiking.

Moving on, we really enjoyed Lago di Braies. It’s one of the places that you would definitely would want to visit again and again. The whole area is surrounded with trees, flowers, and the lake in the middle offers spectacular view and amazing Instagram photo ops!

From Lago di Braies, on the way to our next destination, Sta. Cristina, we stopped at another lake called Lago di Carezza.

Lago di Carezza is a small lake located in the Western Dolomites. According to legends, a mermaid once lived at the lake which wizard Masaré was in love with. In order to seduce her, the witch Lanwerda advised him to dress up as jewel merchant and throw a rainbow from Mt Catinaccio to Mt Latemar. That is what he did, but he forgot to dress up. So the beautiful mermaid detected him and forever disappeared in Lake Carezza. The wizard was angry and threw all the pieces of the rainbow as well as the jewels into the waters. That’s why it still features rainbow colours.

From Lago di Carezza, we drove for about an hour and half to reach our hotel in Sta. Cristina, Val Gardena. On my next blog, ill share with you more about our 3 days adventure in this area.

So, stay tuned!
